Who We Are

The Love Your Block program began as a grant from Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University in partnership with AmeriCorps. What started as a one year grant program has blossomed into a permanent program run by the City of Jackson, TN, entering its third year of operation. Over the last two and a half years, with the help of over 400 volunteers, the Love Your Block program has provided repairs to 23 homes across our community, cleaned up over 23,000 pounds of trash and debris from our neighborhoods, and saved residents nearly $45,000 in labor costs alone. Our mission is to help build relationships and trust between residents and City leaderships, increase neighborhood pride, empower residents, and keep our most vulnerable residents in their homes.

What We Do

The Love Your Block program focuses on reducing blight and inspiring neighborhood-driven change by providing resources and funding for resident-led improvement projects. We are a volunteer-based program that primarily facilitates small exterior home repairs for low-income residents in our community ranging from landscaping to porch repair and ramp building, to painting, and much more. Love Your Block also provides support to neighborhood groups, small businesses, and organizations to conduct community cleanups and create or install neighborhood improvement projects that will benefit surrounding residents.
